Festival Orchestra and Chamber Ensemble Series

Directed by Alyze Dreiling, the Festival Orchestra is dedicated to the intensive rehearsal and performance of masterworks by Beethoven, Mozart, and Haydn.  Advanced level musicians by audition.  High school to college, or with conductor approval. Cost is $270.  Rehearsals are 3-hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings (June 1-3, June 22-24, July 13-15).  Concerts are on June 4 at 6:30pm, June 25 at 4pm, and July 16 at 4pm.  Location for rehearsals and concerts: Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church (RBCPC), 17010 Pomerado Rd.  Chamber Music concerts on June 16, June 30, and July 8. Location: The Chapel at RBCPC.

Soloists Sinfonietta and Sinfonietta

Directed by Alyze Dreiling, this program will focus on full orchestra, chamber music, and score study.  Musicians selected for the Soloists Sinfonietta will also play in the Festival Orchestra.  This program is 6 weeks in length for intermediate level musicians in middle school and high school. Audition required. Cost is $375 (Soloists Sinfonietta, performing with Festival Orchestra) or $240 (Sinfonietta).  Rehearsals are 2 1/2 hours on Saturday and Sunday evening starting June 10th.  Concert is on Friday, July 7th.  Location for rehearsals: Ed Brown Center, 18402 West Bernardo Drive.  Concert location: to be announced.

String Orchestra

Directed by Ulli Reiner, musicians will perform selections from Disney, fiddling, movies, and the classics.  The orchestra is for violin, viola, cello and bass players in grades 4th to 8th, or with teacher approval.  This will be a reading orchestra for the summer with some introductory music theory to assist in better reading for all genres of music.  Students will have music to take home for practice and will combine for two rehearsals with all instruments for ensemble learning and enjoyment.  Students will perform an informal concert at the conclusion of the three week summer session to share what they have learned with family and friends.  Rehearsals are 75 minutes, twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays for 3 weeks, starting on June 14.  Cost is $120.  Location: Twin Peaks Middle School, 14640 Tierra Bonita Rd, Poway.

String Classes- Early Beginner, Beginner and Intermediate Levels

Directed by Ulli Reiner, these classes will provide violin students the ability to learn Suzuki, Fiddling and an Introduction to Music Theory at both the beginning and Intermediate level. Students will have music to take home for practice and will have two class sessions per week for the 3-week summer program.  Students will perform an informal concert at the conclusion of the three week summer session to share what they have learned with family and friends.  Classes meet twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays for 3 weeks, starting on June 14.  Early Beginner and Beginner classes are 30 minutes, cost is $60.  Intermediate classes are 45 minutes, cost is $90.  Location: Twin Peaks Middle School, 14640 Tierra Bonita Rd, Poway.

Adult Education Sessions – Piano Trios

Directed by Alyze Dreiling, this program is geared for beginning and intermediate Adult string players  who will explore the early piano trios of Haydn and Mozart.  Violin and cello participants will be coupled with a professional pianist.  The 8-week program will have 2 sessions per week.  Held on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons, the program will culminate in a public performance on July 23.  Cost is $260 per musician.  Location:  Rancho Bernardo Library, 17110 Bernardo Center Drive, Rancho Bernardo.
